Well just as predicted the warm weather has hit us and flows have bumped back up giving us run-off once again. Good reports of BWO and Caddis Hatches have been coming from the Roaring Fork Valley but water clarity is very poor. The Vail Valley is experiencing the same conditions. Your best bet for fishing this weekend is a Tailwater. Of course crowds may be heavy but these are the things that we have to deal with during run-off.
Good reports are coming from 11 mile on the South Platte. Good numbers of fish rising to BWO’s in the afternoon. If you head that way i would stock up on BWO Emergers and BWO Dries. My favorite BWO dry pattern is the Parachute Adams. Maybe it’s because I am getting old and can see it well on the surface. Or maybe it’s because it just catches a ton of fish. The Upper Colorado has the Camp Out for the Cause this weekend so if you want to catch the Hippie Hatch this is a good place to see it. Otherwise the crowds with be heavy and pachouli will be thick. Either way enjoy the warmer weather and look for flows to come down in the next 3-4 weeks.
